Done With Cable

Author: Isiah Williams

Due to service interruptions and poor customer service I have had it with my cable company. These problems have been going on for the past several months. I have given them plenty of time to rectify the situation but my patience has run out. I was looking for different options and I stumbled across www.directstartv.com. After doing some research, I decided that it was time to pack my bags and leave cable in the dust. As a business owner myself I take pride in having excellent customer service and providing the best service possible to my clients. I cannot fathom why a company, especially one as large as my previous cable company, would not have these things as two of the tenets of their business model. Maybe when a company gets that big then it is hard to control everything that goes on in the lower levels. My dedication to the people I serve has paid of in the long run. Sure, maybe it requires some extra work and sacrifices on my end, but I have seen how that pays off.

Best Neighbors Ever

Guest post of the week by Brittany Booker:

I am so fortunate to have good neighbors. When I moved into my apartment about a year and a half ago, I figured that living here would be the same as living in my old apartment. I barely saw any of my neighbors. I actually had no idea who lived in any of the apartments around me. I was pleasantly surprised when I got a knock at the door one week after I moved in. It was my neighbor, Jim, Inviting me out to a neighborhood happy hour. Since I moved in he has helped with so many things. He helped me train my puppy, which was so nice. It was a really difficult job, and I needed the help. When I had trouble with my cable company, Jim suggested I go to directstartv.com and get satellite instead, which was great advice. I have also met a bunch of people in the neighborhood through him, which has made my social life so much better. It was definitely the right move to leave my old apartment. I finally found the social scene I am looking for at my new place.

New Girl

Post contributed by Leonard Phelps:

I have been watching that show called New Girl recently on our directv Palm Bay. I heard about the show before it aired and was really happy for it to come out. It has an actress that I really like. Her name is Zoey Deschanel. She was in the movie Elf, too. She can sing really well and is really cute and funny. She reminds me of one of my friends actually. She used to date a member of a band I like too, Death Cab for Cutie. They recently broke up, which is so sad to me! The show is still great though. She moves in with a group of guys and has to learn to get along with them. She is a little socially awkward, to be honest. That is what really makes the show. It seems like a lot of the recent comedies that are successful have an element of awkwardness in them. Sometimes it is hard to watch the shows because the moments are so uncomfortable. I still watch it though and it really makes me laugh a lot. I am glad that Zoey is having success after everything she must be going through.

Old Maids

Thanks for the post from Rashad Townsend

This week my two roommates are out of town on business, and that means I am home alone. I really enjoy being alone, and it scares me to think how happy I’d be if I lived alone for the rest of my life (perhaps I’m destined to be an old maid). My mother gave me strict orders to stay inside and avoid the ragweed (which she seems to think I’m allergic to), so I sat on my couch for a couple of hours, eating potato chips and watching reruns or the reality tv programs I watched yesterday on direct TV. Our living room is really meant to be a sunroom, and three walls are made up of windows, which have no curtains. I left the backdoor open, and as night fell I thought to myself that I am a very brave girl for sitting there in the dark alone. But then I started to think, “But I’m not really alone.” From where I was sitting, I could perfectly see into both of my next-door neighbors houses. On both sides, my neighbors are women old enough to be retired schoolteachers. Maybe the three of us will grow old together.
