If you are planning to get married in another country there are some precautions you must take so your big day will go off perfectly.
Be sure to check with the local officials of the country you are planning to have your wedding in to make sure you have secured the proper paperwork. Make sure after the wedding that the event is properly recorded and documented. If you are getting married in a civil ceremony make sure the person officiating is qualified to do so. One of the most important items to check out is make sure that the marriage will be honored by the United States. For example if you were to get married in Brazil the marriage is not recognized in the United States and you would have to get remarried here. Last but not least be sure that the company providing services for your wedding do not try to add extras or overcharge you on the agreed price. To safeguard yourself do a written contract and only pay half down and the remainder at the conclusion of your wedding if they don't want to do this they are not a reputable company and I would suggest that you look elsewhere.
