The Wedding Reception

What is the purpose of the wedding reception? It marks the first time that the married couple are received into society. It is also a way to thank those who have attended your wedding. It is generally held immediately after the wedding either in a hotel banquet hall or even the bride's home depending on your budget. The host will provide the choice of food and drink and this is also where the traditional cutting of the wedding cake takes place.
Wedding receptions last anywhere from a couple of hours to even a couple of days. In days gone by, it was a tradition to celebrate the wedding breakfast. In today's society this is not done so much unless you have a beach wedding at sunrise followed by breakfast reception.

No matter what you have selected a lunch, dinner, or brunch, even a dance it still falls in the category of a reception. There are no set rules in planning your reception. You can always follow your family tradition and culture so; you can't go wrong.
