If you are a young couple just starting out in life and are considering adopting a child from another country there are certain things you must be aware of.

One of the first things you should do is become familiar with the laws of the country you wish to adopt a child from this could save you a lot of stress and problems in the process as you proceed. There are different types of adoption you should be aware of them. If you do contact an adoption agency to help you arrange a adoption placement you must remember they can help you with the process but cannot represent you before homeland security. They cannot advise you in any legal matters pertaining to the adoption I would suggest you hire an attorney who is familiar with the laws of the country you are adopting from .

There are three sets of laws that govern international adoptions US federal law, laws of the native country of the child who is being adopted and local laws in the area where you reside whether it be in the US or a foreign country . There are also three different types of processes that you may choose from to bring your child to the United States. The Hague Adoption,Orphan Adoption and Immigrating Other Adopted Children. You should become familiar with these types of process I would strongly recommend that you obtain the services of a qualified adoption attorney good luck.
